Saddle flocking should be checked regularly to ensure it has not moved or developed lumpy areas that need adjusting by your saddler or more material adding to balance areas that need topping up. The older the saddle flocking the less spring it has, and so investing in a good saddle pad can help enrmously until you get the saddle checked.
