The MBO4 Low Port small hanging cheek snaffle. There is a common belief that the hanging cheek bit can bring some degree of leverage on the horses poll which is not true. To create a poll action we need to have a shank below the side ring piece or in place of it as the fulcrum creating poll pressure needs to act on the bit below the side ring piece. However the MBO4 low port hanging cheek is much less busy in the horse mouth than say a loose ring bit and with a young horse or a well schooled horse it is often accepted very well. The Myler MB04 low port hanging cheek bit is specially good for horses that are sensitive to poll pressure or head shakers where the horse prefers the bit to be stable in its mouth and not move around too much.
The bit has a small 19mm high (three quarter inch) port for tongue relief and uses a wrapping action in the horses mouth without any pinch or nutcracker effect. The independent bit side movement acts on the horses tongue & corners of the bars of the mouth, gently wrapping the lips. As a result the bit encourages the horse to flex into a more rounded outline, balance & relax at the poll. Ideal for a young horse as it encouraging your horse to relax into the bit as it wraps the outer lip. Dressage Legal.
